Back After Hiatus

So creating a climate of your liking around you like a mountain does is not as easy as I thought. :) I must admit that I botched up and did all the things I should not do - things proscribed by the manual of positivity. I cried when I got admitted on the first day. I rarely do. But it just happened partially because of the physical pain afflicted while putting the new line and partially because I refused to accept that all this was happening. For many days I only thought about the bleak side of things. Getting a person whose bone marrow HLA type matches mine seemed like a futile exercise.
That was some days back. I am in much better shape now. Relentless flow of positive thoughts and prayers from friends and family and reading the book that Surbhi talked about 2 posts ago has helped me immensely.
Please don't give up on me. I am still confident that I will take my next few months of treatment with stride and come out of it successfully.

  1. Kartik: you give so much that what you are getting back is only a fraction of what you have given.

Thank you for sharing your quest with us; it isn't often that you can see how a true philosopher thinks, especially during times like this!

You know that people see a lot of good in you and want to hang around you, maybe cancer have the same take on things and just want to visit a little longer? After they are done this time surely they will be satisfied and take the next train out of town!

  2. Kartik,
I can only imagine that it must take real guts to go through something like this. I lose my cool over far sillier things. Don't feel too bad about feeling bad under such circumstances. Best wishes to you to get back to your normal optimistic self.

One thing that usually works for me when I am feeling down is distraction. Here are some (pardon my geeky sense of humor):

For somewhat more uplifting stuff, you might want to check out some of the TED videos, for example this one:

  3. Kartikbhai, more than we giving up on you, you should not give up on us. We all need you in our lives and dont want you to stay low for long. We all deserve our weak phases and you more than anyone! But remember the Gorund Hogs Day? We will see the way and soon .... we are not giving any cancer cells a choice but to get out of here!

Keep up the spirit, I miss my chirpy, pun master brother otherwise! Lots of love.

  4. Hi Grant,

That's a really interesting perspective of cancer cells enjoying their sojourn in my body :D.
Yes, let's hope they have had enough of the sylvan surroundings of my body :).

  5. Hi Vin,
Thanks for the words of encouragement. Geeky stuff is what I relish so thank for sending those links. I love TED and I have still got to listen to lectures from the recent TED India. Besides Shashi Tharoor's talk there are couple of more talks that I would like to listen for sure including one by Harsha Bhogle. The only problem is the access speed here. Probably I would need to buffer everything first and then watch.

  7. Hey there .. give up on you ..... how would that thought even cross your mind!!!!! I am truely amazed and awed by your ability to push through all that has come your way! Hey like Devangi's already said, it's you we hope does not give up on us!! If I were in India I would be camping right outside your hospital room!!! Every day you are thought of and all sorts of evil thoughts are sent to the cancer cells!!!
Keep the posts coming as your not writing does get me/us (Mummy and Papa too) worried!!
The strongest positive vibes coming your way from Seattle.
    Love,

  8. Dear Kartik,

It is only human to feel low for a day or two so don't beat yourself up too much over that. What is amazing is the fact that you keep a stiff upper lip for the rest of the days. With the grace of God, the wishes of loved ones and with your and Surbhi's amazing grit, I am sure we will come out of this period very soon.

  10. Thanks Chandana ben. I wouldn't have reached this far without support of all of you. I just have to come out of this passing phase.

I am going to be more frequent with blog posts. Keep sending your positive vibes.
